The National SAFE KIDS Campaign reports that more than half of all fall-related injuries among children occur among those ages 5 and under. The majority of falls (more than 80 percent) among children ages 4 and under occur in the home. Preschoolers are at greatest risk for falls.

According to the Brain Injury Association, traumatic brain injury is the most frequent cause of injury and death among children in the United States. Each year, more than a million children sustain brain injuries, ranging from mild to severe. These injuries can have long term effects including but not limited to physical impairments, cognitive impairments, which may result in memory deficits, and psycho-social, behavior and emotional impairments.
